Kelai is the most celebrated noble cultivar of Epi, a small volcanic island in Vanuatu’s Shepherd group.
Sold for natural textile dyeing and botanical home fragrance.
- Origin: Epi, Vanuatu
- Form: Traditional grind, coarse milled root
- Pigment: pale gold to honey amber
- Aroma: smooth and warm, gently woody
Coarse milled root, best used with a filter bag to hold the loose material.
Sourced from The Kava Society (New Zealand): grown in Vanuatu, processed fresh, traceable to a single cultivar and growing region.

My absolute favorite cultivar, bright colors and very fine powder with minimal sedimentation. Really perfectly vacuum packed, which applies to all products. Unfortunately, a somewhat rare and hard to available variety.
