A unique cultivar exclusively grown in the bushlands of beautiful Malekula, the second largest island in the Vanuatu archipelago. Despite being venerated by indigenous inhabitants for generations, Silesse has rarely been available outside Vanuatu in its pure form. Our Silesse comes from small family farms in Northwestern Malekula, including the gardens of Joseph Oscar, a fourth-generation farmer who maintains traditional cultivation methods. The plants are harvested after 7 years of growth, ensuring optimal development of the roots’ natural properties.
Silesse offers a distinctive profile – an intense cultivar with a deeper, more complex character. The powder has a fairly light and creamy texture with a buttery feel. The powder’s scent features notes of breadfruit and malty, cashew-like aromas with subtle fruity undertones.
