Puariki
Rare noble cultivar from Tongoa, a volcanic remnant island in Vanuatu’s Shepherd group. Traditional grind.
Tongoa is a small remnant of Kuwae, a larger landmass fragmented by a major volcanic eruption around 1452. The volcanic soil left behind is part of what gives the island’s kava its distinctive character.
“Puariki is the closest genetic cousin to the famous Kelai cultivar of Epi, but far rarer. The plants we harvest today are the offspring of Tongoan stock that endured multiple cyclones, including Pam in 2015.” The Kava Society (New Zealand)

An absolutely excellent cultivar! I would even say it surpasses the legendary Kelai and is definitely worth the price. Really heady. If only it weren’t so rare.
High priced, but excellent quality!
